Virtually explore Kuala Lumpur with my Picture Tour

This trip was exciting to me as I am going to meet my dearest friend Gowthami, who was staying in Singapore, and also I was participating in a conference held at Langkawi.
Trip Dates: 24th Jan 2014 to 29th Jan 2014

Day 1: Chennai to Kuala Lumpur.
The first day of our very Malaysian holiday began with the street food in the China town of Kuala Lumpur. For all food lovers, it is the best place.  Nithin, being food lover, tried all local food of Malaysia.
Don't remember the name as its been 3.5 years from now
Visiting China Town without shopping is not an option!

Walking along the colorful Jalan Petaling Street is like a dream come true.

And a picture with the eye catching lanterns is a must!!!!!

Batu Caves:

After freshening up, we went to KL Sental metro station to receive Gowthami. Nithin was amused by the beauty of the metros in the city though it appeared normal to me as I have seen similar kind in Delhi.
Arranged a cab for one complete day to explore Kuala Lampur. So the first thing in the list was the most famous Batu caves.

And climbing that steep hill was not so easy!!!

You will never feel like you landed in a foreign land in Batu caves as it is crowded with Tamilians mostly.
Inside Batu caves
Hot Springs:

These two are trying to figure out how its gonna work!!!

Istana Negara-King's Palace:

It used to be the King's Palace of Malaysian king until 2011. It was converted into Royal Museum in 2013 and referred as old Istana Negara.

To revive the tradition of Malay Sultane, two guards in Malay traditional attire would be stationed at the main gate.

National Monument:

This was the monument which was built in memory of those who died in Malaysian's struggle of freedom during World war II and Malayan Emergency.

It is the world's tallest bronze freestanding sculpture grouping.

Cenotaph near the National monument
Taman Burung Kaula Lumpur Park:

We spent an hour exploring the botanical garden near Taman Burung Bird park.

Kuala Lumpur City Gallery:

Bought this from that gallery!!!

Thean Hou Temple:

I was in search of places in the city to explore through TripAdvisor app so that I could not miss any of the attractions and found this beautiful Chinese temple and instructed our driver to go that place.
I can say it is a must visit place in the city and I still wants to visit it again.
It was so pleasant, peaceful and colorful and it was my first ever experience of visiting  a Chinese temple.

One thing I love about Chinese is their love of colors.

Petronas Twin Towers:

The only place that was left to visit in the city was the most awaited Petronas Towers. And we decided to visit it in the night  to enjoy its beauty in lights. So we asked our cab driver to drop us back at hotel in china town so we could rest for few hours.
For dinner, although Nithin like to try the local food of the city, we went to a South-Indian-vegetarian restaurant as Gowthami is a Vegetarian and then caught a Metro to Petronas.

 And here it is!!!

Day 2:

We dedicated our second day in the city completely to shopping. We caught a local bus to city center and went to Pavillion shopping mall to purchase laptops as we heard that they are cheap in Kuala Lampur. But the price difference is very less when compared to India but we bought two laptops as those models were not available in India..

A Traffic Robot-Man!!!

Berjaya Times Square- One of the biggest shopping mall in KL

As we had flights in evening to Langkawi and Gowthami was travelling back to Singapore, we rushed to our hotel and packed luggage to head towards airport. Due to heavy traffic, we didn't want to risk by taking a local bus/metro instead we called the same cab driver to drop us at airport.

And our driver was damn enthusiastic to guide the tourist attractions in the city and to revive the history of Malaysians. It was fun to travel with him.

We came across Sepang International Circuit- a motorsport race track near KL International airport.

Gave a final send off to Gowthami after having snacks at airport and then we caught our flight to Langkawi.
